  • Good news! Despite my being Captain Pessimism, the car seems to work.

In a surprisingly quick amount of time, they had the car repaired on friday after starting on it on thursday. From what I can see from the invoice, they did change the timing chain, tensioner and remapped the ECU. Fortunately, they carried out my 40,000km service, so changed the fuel pump, changed the oil, and the spark plugs.

From driving the vehicle this weekend, there is no noticeable proplem. The idle was quiet on the weekend but after starting it in the sun at midday today had some mild grumble. Performance on the road is as zippy as ever. The turbo is most definitely back on and not complaining (for now). The only problem I did notice was rather stupidly pulling off a little overzealously in the rain, and having some quite jolty grip issues. Normally the wheels just spin and the traction control complains at you? I didn't see any ESP light come on, and it felt like I was pulling off through pot-holes. I'll just assume that's cos I can't drive and just need to behave in the rain :P

Hopefully all sorted for now, will be back if not. Keep well!

    • Good to hear. Let's hope you're now sorted.

Was it the fuel pump they changed, or the fuel filter?

      • You have a good point! I went and checked the invoice again, and it doesn't say either? They said they had changed something to do with the fuel.
On the invoice it mentions: oil filter, air filter, "batch of filters". But no mention of fuel stuff. My bad :s
It also says, "Total Quartz INEO ECS 5W 30 Oil"... is this correct?
If you want further information of what was on the service, I'll happily post in here, just don't want to spam if its not necessary.

        • x6411- possibly a PCV delete would help your power issues?
Ive got 2 delete caps and was told to only put them on if any difficulties arise, BUT they have overcome similar problems with other members
The problem is that with the PCV pipe removed and the caps on, Citroen may well say the warranty is not valid
You can put them on and remove prior to taking into Citroen for work. Just a thought

          • PCV is needed for the engine to work properly. Deleting it will damage the engine.

            • It is Not deleting whole pvc system just disabling half of it.

It's definitely something to look at, I've read a few success stories.. I'll give pestering Citroen a try though! See what they say. From what I've read it can be a pain though. I've dealt with CitroenUK directly before though which has achieved better results than speaking to the dealership in the past (replacing corroded alloys)

                • Hi, my son has only owned his dS3 3 weeks and he has had power loss and tgot the judder, taken it in to Bolton and they said it needed an update which was done and told this was the problem, Next day judder still there so back in tomorrow for 'addatives' should i contact citreon direct as warranty runs out next week. Thanks

                  • Do it now! Additives won't help the issue. Contact CUK directly and ask them how best to action this fault and ensure they're aware his warranty is up soon!

                    • Today I was driving around and suddenly when accelerating from traffic lights I felt complete power loss, I mean no turbo, and almost no power. I had to push the pedal to 3000 before lifting the clutch so it didn't stall. There were no service, stop or engine management lights on the dash.

I drove to a parking lot and went to take care some errands. After an hour I came back and read the fault codes with Torque. It said: "P2178 Powertrain / System too rich off idle bank1". I couldn't reset the code so I decided to take the chance and try to drive home. The car felt normal all the way back home, full power etc.

I'm taking it to the dealer anyway for a yearly maintenance but I thought I'd ask here if anyone knows already what is broken or about to. As it's connected to the fuel system I'm thinking it may be the fuel pump... What do you think?

Sounds like it was choking / wetting plugs. Something fucked up the AFR.

                        • What is AFR? Prior to the fault I did a sharp right turn on an intersection so that EPS kicked it. Speed wasnt that high and I was on 2nd gear.

Yes. I am sure the sharp right turn had nothing to do with the issue. However what could have caused the spark plugs to get wet is a mystery.
Is the car stock? Are you running on 98E?
