    http://distributionthp.free.fr (UNE PETITION) -->
This site is a small gathering of people experiencing distribution problems on THP engines.
A shift in the distribution appear gradually and results in destruction of the engine.
At best your engine will go into degraded mode and operate with reduced power, the worse it will break.

LOL, just a small issue then!

Thanks for the post, a great insight in to the global issues of this engine.

New to this forum but I have just experienced this problem with a DS Sport with 17500 I automatically thought I had blown something now got the car back from the doctors & they had flushed out the engine run it at various speeds & hey presto the power is back yahoo!!!!!!!!! . But they couldn't sort the power steering problem which is non existent sometimes from a start then it frees off apparently the Computer say's no !!!! & that's it - has anyone else experience this problem

Yes, I have the power steering delay - posted about it on here ages ago now - apparently it's to avoid undue drain on the battery (it's an electric system) until the alternator starts charging, or something like that. Never driven another electric power-steered car that does it. It can take you by surprise if you're trying to do a swift exit from a parking space, as you tend to assume that a quick yank on the steering will do, only to discover that you need to haul on it big-time to avoid ploughing straight on.

Sympathise with the power loss - I'm taking mine in again tomorrow to see if they can sort it out. Not optimistic.

I was right not to be optimistic. I took the car in 2 weeks ago to investigate the power loss and rough running. It was diagnosed as a faulty turbo cooling pump (see the discussion here: http://ds3club.co.uk/showthread.php?...w-what-this-is)

That took a week to arrive, & was eventually fitted last Friday. I was expecting to pick the car up on Saturday on my way to Carrow Road (that detail's important, because my daughter & I reckon the Yellows never lose when we drive to the game in my yellow DS3)

Well, I got a phone call first thing Saturday morning to say that they'd fitted a new turbo cooling pump and ... guess what? ... it had made no difference at all.

After much head-scratching and further lengthy telephone calls to Citroen Tech Support (who are rapidly assuming the status of total numpties in my book) they now reckon the inlet cam keeps retarding by 2.5 degrees and putting the timing out. They say the new chain cam and tensioner are working OK, so they're now going to change the VVT unit (as there may be some play it in, hence the timing going out) and also fit a new pulley for the exhaust cam.

They say there's no sign of oil in the inlet manifold, and the plugs are clean as a whistle (for a car with 20k miles on it), so it doesn't seem to be suffering from the plug fouling/detonation problem.

So, I'm still in the asthmatic Fiesta diesel, and it looks like I'll be without the DS3 for another week. That will make it 4 weeks, and counting.

Has anyone heard of a THP having a problem with (a) the turbo water pump, (b) the VVT unit , or (c) the exhaust cam pulley?

I've no idea how much this is costing Citroen UK, but it won't be a small amount.

I thought my love affair with my yellow buzzbomb would never end, but I fear our days are numbered.

(But at least the absence of the DS3 didn't jinx the Yellows on Saturday, as we still stuffed QPR 2-1)

mines in dealership at moment must be 4th time they have had it for the power loss / engine management light after changing bits tht havent worked. they had it friday evenin and ive givin them till tues evenin wed at latest to giv me reasonable solution / car back because the hire care from enterprise expries and my cover note from insurance company expires. if they havent got any reasonable answers lawyers will be involved theyve bin told. i also filled car up before it went in and zero`ed the 2nd trip screen so ill see how far theyve gone and how much theyve used cas they will be paying for tht too i cant afford anymore expense its enough taxing it paying for petrol and paying monthly never mind paying for stuff they r using. surely they must of cottoned on to the amount of cars tht this is happening too. my dealership sez this is the first ds3 they have had in with engine problems :| great

Mine at least had the grace to say that the THP is now known to be a problem engine.

Hope you get your sorted soon, mate.

Phone message this evening to say my car's ready for collection.

But is it properly mended this time?
