That's my setup at the moment. Got the room heater blowing hot underneath as far as possible, engine on with aircon on full blowing from the footwells, and using a hair drier on the top part of the carpet footwell. Windows and boot open too.

A hair dryer, wooly mammoth towel and multiple MF clothes are helping to dry up the lake in my rear passengers foot well. #lessonlearnt #closewindows #lakeds3

Don't know if rice would work , it does on a wet mobile phone.

Careful with that heater as well mate, make sure it doesn't over heat in that confined area. You would get your carpets dried though if it did...

Decided not to try salt, but didn't think about the rice part. I wonder if it would work, hmmm something to try the next time (hopefully not though)

The heater has an auto cut-off when it hits a certain temperature.

I pressed MF clothes under the carpet to soak up as much water as possible from the foamy bits. I switched over to a hair dryer and that was working so much faster than the heater.

Done as much as I can today (about 5 hours worth) Now left the carpet wedged up so hopefully air can get underneath it and help dry it. Will check in the morning to see how things are going, and fingers crossed, won't need to do much else.

Great to get it dry, but the real problem is finding out where all this ingress comes from

Mine was from leaving a window open.

I wonder how's things went with David, if the problem is still persisting? (Sorry about "hijacking" the thread) it's that foam thing that makes it so hard to dry. I'm not sure for the reason for having foam underneath the rear footwell. Why not just thicker carpet.

you like a quiet car? It is there to dampen sound and much more effective than any thickness carpet alone.

With my sub, I doubt the foam will make a difference in "quieting" my car.....

Good to know the reason behind the foam though. Cheers!

What about if I put salt on the carpet? To draw up the moisture and then hoover over it - or would that wreck the carpet?
I'm sure someone you know has 1 you could borrow I had to do it with a previous car when the door seals went on the door card I now do it as a matter of course every winter just to take the excess water out of the air save the car misting up so much

So it's done it again. Now, Front right, rear right, and rear left footwells wet.

£82.20 to have it looked at my local place. (Shot in the foot this time of year init)

Well, hopefully taking it in the morning. Will phone up first and speak with the mechanic. The service department person hasn't heard of this happening before, so he said to ask the mech first before coming through. I'll mention about the scuttle drain and filters. It was serviced not too long ago, so maybe something wasn't sealed properly.
