  • Glow plug light

    Hi all,

Very new to the ds3. Picked myself up a very nice ds3 sport 1.6 hdi on Friday so still getting used to it. Just a question, when I am doing the first start the glow plug light thing on the dashboard is not lighting up, is this normal?

    Thanks
    Laus

I'm pretty sure there isn't one, I don't ever recall seeing one on mine

Same here, I think modern diesel engines heat up the glow plugs almost instantly. On my old 1.9tdi Xantia, you had to wait 3-4 seconds for the light to out!

The glow plugs are there but the HDi system heats them up very quickly, top tip though is any morning where you can see your breath or frost you will see the glow plug light (looks like a curly whirly), jump in the car and light the ignition, pop your seat belt on and then start the car as by the time you have done that the system will have pre-heated.

Thank you to everyone that replied.
I normally leave it a few seconds before starting it up anyway but thought I'd just check, in the old days you used to have to wait for it to go out.
