Only one reversing and rear fog light......Why?

Does anyone know why the DS3 only has one fog and reverse light?

Any ideas about mods to this.

I am considering setting a pair of these .. http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/drl-smd...ark-p-469.html into the black "skirt" under the rear bumper and then rewiring the rear lights to use the old reversing light as a 2nd fog light.

Should be easy enough to conceal the wiring mods thro the panels in the boot

Probably because one of each is enough?

Don't forget these cars have CAN-bus electrics - if you double the power draw on the fog light circuit your car might sulk!

Certainly if you fit tow bar electrics your have to use a relay unit to keep things happy


Canbus / Multiplex towbar wiring:

Most vehicles manufactured within the last few years use very sophisticated multiplex or canbus wiring systems. This type of electrical system can be very complex, the circuits can not be modified because the cable voltages/resistances are monitored constantantly by the cars ECU. In order for additional electrics to be added onto your vehicle (eg: towbar electrics) we are forced to use a full Canbus Smart/Bypass relay. This relay system will ensure no additional load is applied to the car, therefore not causing any damage or malfunction to the vehicles on-board electronic computer (ECU) or bulb failure warning system.

Although a cure to the problems mentioned above a Smart Relay will not enable any kind of towing programme that can be found on many modern cars. Please check your handbook for terminology such as: T-ESP, TSP, DSC, VSC.

LOL Can't have the car sulking, might have to cheat a bit and trade the filament lamps for LED units to even out the load and fool the ECU, but you make a valid point.

My reasoning for wanting a second / better reversing lights is a totally unlit driveway with rather hard obstructions on both sides, and the single lamp on the n/s just doesn't give enough light, now IF I had the DLR's that are on the front @ the rear there wouldn't be any problem...................

Could you not uprate the bulb already in the car?

There does seem to be a split of opinion about one/two rear fog lights, some feel one is best as it doesn't look like brake lights in fog and there are people who think that two is better for viability! The reason for the way the DS3 is set out is more of a design and cost issue.

I did think about trying to uprate the existing reversing light bulb, But as far as I can see they don't exist, if they did would the ECU accept the increased current without having a hissy-fit. But the primary reason for wanting a second light is to improve the spread of light.....the n/s isn't bad but the o/s gets very little light, and as I said earlier it will make reversing up an unlit drive with obstructions on both sides much easier.

All of my previous Citroen's, ( bx19gt, bx19 estate, picasso, c3 xtr & c2 furio) have all had 2 reversing lights so I've never had a problem until the DS3

I mean, if it is possible to have the rear fog light as another reverse light. That's an option on Diagbox. So you would have both sides as reverse lamps.
