  • Panel info warning

Can anyone shed light on this issue. I have a 90 bhp diesal DS3 Plus which is used as a driving school car. Car is approx 2yr old (62 plate) with 35K on the clock. My nearest dealership is 25 miles away and I'm struggling to get there at the moment. I have a fault as follows.
Turn ignition on, panel beep functions once, word "SERVICE" shows. word "OIL" shows and panel displays "oil top up needed".
Within 20 seconds total panel display reverts to normal and no further issues until you come to start the car again and the fault is repeated.
I have checked for low oil and topped up as needed + I have reset the service button. I think a dealership visit is needed unless somebody knows different . Must say this is the first fault in 2 years.

Not uncommon at all. It generally takes a while for the top up oil to go away after you fill it up.

Thanks Cyclone for quick response. Since topping up with oil I have know driven some 3 hours and the same issues are there. Any ideas?

It can take up to 24hr for it read the oil correctly IIRC. If you have manually checked and it's ok then I'd give it a day or 2. If you're still getting the error, go see your dealer.

Status this morning shows everything back to normal. The only question I have know is "Why does it take the system so long to reset?".
Many thanks for the replies it was really appreciated.
New car has also been ordered, same spec in artic steel/ black roof. An ideal driving school car.

My guess is it would probably be a form of software de-bouncing/smoothing...

So let's say the oil is right on the threshold/trigger-point of the low sensor, driving around it could go over or under the low oil threshold... going around corners, bumps. If it were a direct connection with no smarts, the light flashing could get distracting.
To stop the oil level warning light flashing on and off intermittently, it looks like they've set it up to stay in an alarm state for 24 hours after it's been triggered.

            That's my guess anyway
