  • Chrome wheels bolts

    Hey guys,

I'm having great difficulty in removing the chrome wheel bolts that cover the wheel nuts.

I fancy plasti-dipping them. Looked through the handbook and it says I need a tool to do it. Anyone know what tool this is? (or if there is an around the house alternative?)

I've checked under the boot floor and I have nothing (not even a jack or brace, just that stupid can of foam...)

    Any help would be great

    THIS is the official tool

there is a lip on the cap so you can cobble up a tool to lodge under it and pull it off

Sounds like you need one of these

Maybe try two flat head screwdrivers and pull, don't lever against the wheel though

I ordered a spare wheel with mine instead (cost an extra £70). Its a space saver but still, its a wheel instead of that foam cr@p.

I didn't have the tool, but it's easy enough to (like stated above) use two flathead screwdrivers to lever the bolt covers out. The screwdrivers I used had only the metal head exposed, and the rest was covered in plastic so that I wouldn't scratch the alloys. Initially, try using one screwdriver to "half pop them off", then use both at opposite sides of the wheel nut covers, and simply lever them out. Ideally, buy the tool, but if you're in a rush to get the job done and can't be bothered to wait for the part to arrive, this method will get the job done.

I use an IC extraction tool (Code: FD54J) from Maplin to take the covers off the wheel bolts. Only £2.39 and small enough to keep in the glovebox.
