  • BlueHDI 120 diesel engine (and AdBlue fluid)

Can anyone advise? - what on earth is AdBlue?

I'm in the process of ordering my new DS3 DSire Plus.

The dealership phoned me up the other day to advise the engine I choose (BlueHDI 120) diesel 6gear manual needs this fluid at regular intervals, and the Servicing of this system is not included under Servicing Fee and Warranty procedure.

I've never hear of this additive. My Nissan Qashqasi just has the DFP and everything works fine. I just put fuel in lol.

I've tried to find online what this AdBlue liquid is, and how expensive/frequency/easy it is to do.... Anyone have this on their DS3 Model? Any advice on the process?

    Thanks!

    Dom.

Did they specifically say 'AdBlue' or just additive fluid?

Adblue is around £1 a litre if you buy it in 10 litre tubs.

You will have a small tank under the car with a filler cap (in the boot well on my Cactus) and you just fill it up when you get a low level warning light on the dash or just top it up at 10k miles. The Adblue tank in my Cactus is around 17 litres and lasts around 12k miles (can't remember exactly).

Cheap to buy and no harder to fill than topping up with diesel.

Not sure but I'm assuming that Adblue replaces the hideously expensive Eolys fluid used in diesel Citroens??

            Thanks Guys for the info.

I've research AdBlue and know what it does. But wasn't sure whereabouts on the DS3 you put it into the Car.
Youtube and Google didn't show up any video.
But I know it'll be either in a separate nozzle entry next to Diesel opening hole.
Or in a separate entry in he boot space, much like Audi or VW.

For anyone that has this System - is the servicing of the System very expensive? Apparently from what I've read it's every 10,000miles! And that's in addition to the standard Serving of the vehicle.

I'm not sure if it has to she specifically AdBlue, but that's what they said. Unsure of how much the tank would hold on a DS3 but guessing it's not as the Cactus, as a much smaller car.

You don't service the system, you just top it up..... Yourself as its so easy. So it's just the cost of a tub of Adblue available from your local motorfactors likely at 1/2 the price of a main dealers.

I would imagine the tank would be a similar size on a DS3 purely so you're not topping it up every few months.

IF Admin happen to see this thread, can they delete it? It won't let me....

I also created a more generic thread about the DSire Plus and the specifications, when I was deciding on my car order.
But got caught up talking about AdBlue there too.
Was just thinking, no need for two similar threads.

So where is my adblue filler cap ?

Despite the handbook telling me it's location, I can't find my Adblue filler portal - It's not by the fuel cap........ nor is it in the boot under the mat.
I have an electric parking brake - Could it be under that ? - I'd need to remove the parking brake to see. It's held on with a strap. Could they really have hidden it THERE, underneath the parking brake winch ?

I'll keep the thread as there's still some useful information in here for anybody searching for "adblue".

edit: Obviously meant to say this back in 2014.

Maybe, But the electric parking brake winch thing is also under the spare wheel.
I've only had the car a week or so, but I'd like to find out where the filler port is for future reference.
I'm a bit reluctant to start undoing the strap. I have to say, it looks a bit of a makeshift design.

AdBlue is a fluid fired into the exhaust which helps breakdown NOX particles. The AdBlue tank on your car will need to be checked and topped up each service (included in the cost).

Here's a wee video to help explain it better.
