  • Temperature sensor in 1.4 dsign

    Hi,

I have a 1.4 dsign and haven't been able to drive it due to what appears to be a broken sensor. As soon as the engine is turned on, the temperature goes from cold to boiling on the dashboard. We know the engine is no where near boiling hot so have presumed the sensor is broke. We were told that the sensor would be a doddle to fix so ordered the part ourselves from the dealer. Hubby has come to fit it and it is nothing like the one in the manual downloaded off emanuals website. Do we need to take the car to the dealer to fit it or is there another way?

    Any help appreciated!

If you can locate the sensor and pull the connecting contact off it, the instrument needle should remain in the bottom when u switch the ignition on.
If not, there is either a shorted cable or an instrument fault.

If the car is under 3 years old this should be a warranty job rather than having to do it yourself.

I've just had mine done at the dealers as my car is still under warranty
Like above if the car is under 3 years old they will replace it.
