  • Reverse gear

Hello all... Still learning my little quirks in my :ds3: but so,etching that's bugging me...

I really have to give it some oomph to put it in reverse from stationary... I've just changed from a megane which was quite vile fairy-like gear box which could be why I'm not used to the clunky gears in my DS3...

I've heard the DMF in :ds3: aren't the best could this be why... I never grinder the gears in my megane but I've done it a few times already since Saturday

If this happens just put the gear into neutral, lift the clutch and try again. Sometimes this happens and unfortunately it's a quirk of the car and I've seen this thousands of times on all ages of Citroen's.

My observations have been that the gearbox in the DS3 is a bit clunky initially.
After driving a Honda Prelude and Toyota Hiace, it was initially a bit of work to shift gears. During the first few months I ground a few gears, and it even popped out of gear a few times.

Now a year later and roughly 25,000kms on the odometer, it shifts far smoother. My only guess is the synchros had to wear-in.
Don't worry to much about it, and don't be afraid to slam it into gear as long as the clutch is fully depressed.

You do realize that this Sy king has a completely different transmission than you.

Yeah I think he'll have a 5 speed box unlike ours

I find the reverse is a bit hard to put in when it's cold. After engine (weather) has warmed up, no problem. Also if the reverse seems hard to put in, shift it on 1st or 2nd and then the reverse goes in no problem. All this when clutch is still pressed.
