  • Erm guys.....I have some bad news.....

    Hi guys,

So there I was driving home from work last night in the pouring rain, concentrating and paying attention like any good DS3 driver should. Come up to two sets of traffic lights one after the other. First were red so stopped being a Vauxhall Insignia (Dark Green EURGH!), lights went green followed by the next lights so we both moved off, then BANG!

He stopped for no reason at under 10mph at the second set of GREEN lights, and with conditions I had no time to react and went straight into the back of him!

So she is currently sitting on the drive with shifted body panels, passenger door won't open, left front indicator doesn't work, and the clutch pedal in this rather awkward looking
position!(See below) Made a claim on my insurance (Tesco Black Box) who were very helpful and are coming to collect her in the next 48hrs and drop me a courtesy car.......

I am distraught!Click image for larger version

Mate I'm so gutted, keep going over it in my head!

The worst part is i was driving safely. I wasn't doing anything stupid like speeding, phone etc. I was being a sensible driver and this happens! There is no justice!

Had a similar thing happen to me a few years back in the mothers Zafira.

Lights turned green, car in front was the only car there. He started accelerating then came to a complete stop for no reason. It didn't sound too bad until he moved his car forwards again and then we discovered I'd mounted his tow bar with the Zafira's radiator and he proceeded to rip the bottom of the radiator off.

Mum wasn't too impressed with that one

Sounds like a crash for cash kind of scam to me. Either that or they're just an idiot.

Important thing is you're ok and the car can be replaced

Hope it gets sorted in your favour.

The same happened to me... On a T junction with really open visibility turning left I was behind an old Volvo.. The one car came past our junction and the Volvo started to move away... I following looking right again as I pull out the T junction...then bang straight into the back of him he just stopped!!! His bumper was slightly loose and he tried to claim whiplash but my insurance rejected his claim after he was checked by medical people from my insurance... I swear to this day he was a scammer

                    Sorry to hear it.

I wouldn't worry about it though. I know that shit feeling. But it will all be sorted, don't worry.

Plus it doesn't seem to make much difference if you lose your ncd either

Was in the same situation last week. Luckily I managed to slam the brake just in time. I think I just gave the car in front a little kiss with my bumper..

Unlucky mate, happens to the best of us. At least you're ok, that's the main thing. Definitely sound shady though, think you've got a scammer.

My first thoughts also and as with any crash it is just a hunk of metal and that is why you pay insurance. The important thing is that the people are OK even the idiot.
