  • Blocked rear washer

    Hello again!

Appears I've gained a blocked rear washer. If I try and run it a couple of times, sometimes some fluid makes it through so I'm confident it isn't broken. Front washers work fine. I've used a needle to try and clean it and used compressed air too try and clear it. Neither has worked. I think my next step is to get to the washers itself but I have a DSport spoiler so its built in quite far. Does anyone know how to get the washer with the larger spoiler? I'm guessing I need to dissemble the spoiler first but unsure how.

On the bottom of the spoiler stick your finger in the little hole for the washer jet and pull. The bottom cover will come off.

Do you know if the washer is just a barbed fitting and therefore can be removed for cleaning? Tried to clean it but no luck.

Do not know. Never taken it apart.

I had a Seat that the rear washer used to fail and I thought the jet had became blocked and what had happened is the pipe had came off in the boot and was just filling up with water .

In the icy conditions the jet freezes and the pressure blows off the joint

That would be really useful BigFeet. Might be able to get to it while at work!

MonkeyNuts. That was my worry, my spoiler brake light was showing some mist so I thought it was leaking in. From what I can feel the tube is still attached. I can't get a clear look to see how its all attached. There is some framework stopping me getting the washer assembly off for a closer look.

Just to close the thread the rear washer has been cleared. The washer is locked in place by a flexi clip. Once loosened you have to remove the 5mm I.D tube from the washer. Washer has a pretty large barb so it takes some wrangling to get it off. I cleaned it using an ultrasonic bath but compressed gas or even leaving it to soak in some diluted IPA would probably work.

Good to hear it is finally working again. Thanks for the report back on how you fixed it.
