  • LEDs in fog lights

    Hey,

Just fitted some nice LEDs in to the fog lights. Tested them but they are flashing. Anyone knows what the problem is?

    Were they Canbus bulbs?

No idea, probably not. So they need to be canbus proof or can i fix it by placing resistors?

You might be able to fix them by placing resistors in parallel.
I've not tried them in Citroens, but when I used to do angel-eye & led conversions on BMW E46s, I'd place a 36 ohm 10w resistor in parallel wherever leds or CFL inverters were replacing incandescents. Parking/side lights mainly, and sometimes indicators.

If they kept flickering, a 2200 or 4700uF electrolytic capacitor would also help smooth out the volts. Make sure it's rated 20v or higher (surges can slowly cook them), and preferably a 105C one, engine bays cook 85C capacitors.

This was before canbus friendly bulbs were cheap. If you can get some cheap canbus bulbs, best just do that, far easier.

Wouldn't an LED bulb negate the effect of the fog light for when you do need really them?

I use them as cornering lights

I know there is a option on diagabox but have not tried it yet saw it last week when I was removing some fault codes and re coding my dash display

There is indeed an option in diagbox. With the cornering lights turned on the fog lights will lose their normal function

btw: fixed the original problem by fitting 2 big resistors(3 Ohm 50W)
