  • Heated Leather Seats Part 2

Hey guys. I decided to see for myself if my leather seats have the elements built in, and I can definitely see after removing both seats out, that there is wires leading to the main heat element.

Question is, how difficult is it to wire a switch, and if so has anyone managed to do this?

    Thanks

Nope, but if anyone can find out how to do it I would be very interested. I have a lower back problem from a previous accident wher a guy who was drunk hit me East bound on the M4 and sent me up the embankment and down on the cars subframe at a great rate of speed. Heated seats on a long distance are very beneficial to me. Still can't figure why Citroen UK didn't offer this as an option with any of the seat finishes. If I hadn't really taken to the car as I did then I would have rejected it simply because of this.

I'm going to get this working in mine as soon as I get it, early April is the quoted delivery date.

Probably needs a relay and power feed plus the switches, I have them in my cooper S so will pull it apart a bit before it gets chopped in to see how thats wired up,

Anyone got a citroen with heated seats, or a wiring diagram for one?

I doubt it in the UK.

Still, its a start and it is good news that it seems to have the elements installed ready. I am going to talk to my Bro in Law who works at what car to see if there is anyway he can contact or put me in contact with somebody at Citroen France to talk to about how to get these seats working or if its even possible. Will keep you informed.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Hope you find some thing out Kenjikojo. I paid £1000 for the leather seats, and would like to have the benifits of the installed heater.

de30m, i dont think any of us here in the UK have activated heated seats. Maybe bigfeet76 can get us a diagram. He's good at stuff like that

Been thinking about the heated seats issue and am pretty sure that I've seen a pic showing the switch which as I recall looked like it had a series of number on it.
              http://ds3club.co.uk/showthread.php?...ghlight=wiring

This suggests to me that it is some form of controller/thermostat which would make sense, you could hardly have the heaters in the seats on without some form of control.

I think there must be some form of timer circuit as well (similar to the rear window heater) again you wouldn't want the heaters on for hours at a time.

Hopefully Bigfeet might be able to rustle up some circuit diagram which would tell what parts are needed, but I don't think that activating the heater elements (if that's what they are) is going to be an easy task.

Thinking about it from a totally different angle. If someone can find out IF the heated seats are available in another part of Europe then how about contacting a dealer there to see if they can help.

What we need is some brave soul to remove their seat, unclip the housing and lift the leather to access the foam pads. Only then will we know if the heated elements are there or Citroen does have a supply of different rated seats for different countries.

well looking at those circuit diagrams everything ie the timer must be in the seat and the switch determines how hot it should be. there does not appear to be any control coming from the module other than an Ign feed maybe ( i assume the seat will only work with engine running) so they don't drain the battery

I think your wrong there there is a grey feed coming from BSI1 and a red feed from BFH1 (which looks like a fuse box), the return is done as usual through the car body (green to chassis points MC37 & MC40)

yeah the grey wire will likely be an ign feed to the seat switch, this then goes through one of the resistors in the switch to the controller in the seat.

Again this is just best guess without a seat or a vehicle to test

You are a little out with this If you look at the diagram and the parts list you will see that in each seat there is a Rheostat this is a variable resistor which controls the the amount of current which passes through the elements, this is the switch you see in one of the other threads. it alloys you to control from no heat to full heat in stages. and your right the heaters would only work with the engine running. But no timers.
