From the pdf version of the car handbook that I have
" Heated seats control
With the engine running, the front seats can be
heated separately.
 Use the adjustment dial, placed on the side
of each front seat, to switch on and select
the level of heating required:
0: Off.
1 : Low.
2 : Medium.
3 : High."

I believe even when correctly wired you still have to "tell" the ECU that it needs to change to incorporate the seats.
Someone will no doubt confirm this.
Maybe Zack could do this with a Lexia?

That's almost certainly the function of the grey wire that connects to BSI1, the built-in systems interface, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that it does incorporate some form of timer / protection so that the heaters aren't blasting away all the time especially in unoccupied seat.

Hi all, Finally got a reply from Citroen UK today from their press officer I believe regarding the heated seats issue. I will cut and paste the message that I got from my Bro in Law who works at What car and was my point of contact to Citroen so its a reliable source. Whether Citroen are telling the truth I don't know. You all know how hard it can be to get a straight answer from some people who maybe don't want to put their necks on the line.

"The guy at Citroen has just got back to me. According to him, there is a difference between left and right hand drive seats. There is an element in the seats but right-hand drive cars would need a different wiring loom to the ones that are in left-hand-drive cars.

According to him, the demand for heated leather seats in the UK is so small that the cost of inserting the new wiring loom would be more than they could actually charge for the option. That's the reason why it's not offered as an option.

I asked him if there were any after market kits available to convert the seats. He said there is nothing that he could recommend - and he could not recommend getting a good electrician to wire up the seats because if the seats caught fire that would put Citroen into a situation they wouldn't want to be in. "

Don't get my car til July so I can't have a fiddle but I will when it arrives.

As far as I can see looking at the wiring diagrams, it can't be that hard even if the loom is not there.

If the switch can be obtained (any ideas, anyone going to europe on holiday) and the element is in place there are only a few wires to run and connect and the ecu to update.

Simple!!!???

I have been doing some digging and I have found some switches and relays that may be suitable, not Citroen genuine but hopefully will do the job for experimental purposes.

As I don't have my car yet and can't have a look, does anyone know if the Thermistor/Thermostat is built in to the seat heating elements/seat or if it is a seperate box?? It does not seem to be shown as a seperate item on the wiring diagram that Bigfeet has attached.

Hi Dan,

My car is supposed to be delivered last week in July so will have a look after then.

As I said above if the elements are fitted it should be fairly easy if I can make the aftermarket switch and relay work. It would be better if I could get genuine Citreon switches and relays but I have had no luck in finding them.

Wont the switches from another Citroen model with heated seats work?

As mentioned, the C2 CODE had heated leather, and im pretty sure it was variable heat too

Don't expect too much from the seats. I have them in Belgium and you can barely feel the heat, even on position 3. Ans yes there is a timer built in.
