As per title, ooh looky what do we have here, here is the result of a weekend know it all mechanic, yes darling I can cure the rattling for you, I'm a mechanic don't you know, and read all I need to know off the internet, a few quid and hours later and yes the rattling sure did stop, LMAO.

This mess is now awaiting my attention, all for the sake of trying to save a few quid.

I'm not really a hands on guy anymore, I will on the rare occasion to help out, generally I offer vocal guidance, this mess belongs to one of my staff's relations, and as I have a host of spare parts new and used, it's landed or will be landing at work for a rebuild.

I've not got the whole story or indeed the truth, we can all see lots of valve to piston contact, yet a timing chain that is in tact, this is indeed what happens when you let a bafoon install a timing kit, to cure a rattle, which he successfully did (stop the and all rattles) and not realise that the THP camshaft to crankshaft timing phase should be and is set at 90° BTDC

            Has it broke the camshaft?

No, both camshafts are intact, that said, I will merely exchange the cylinder head in the photo, with a very low mileage freshly rebuilt cylinder head, that I have sitting on the shelf.

                Ouch !

My first couple of cars I serviced myself but as soon as I had one with fuel injection I decided that it was worth paying a local independent mechanic to look after my cars. At the moment Citroen are doing that for mine...

Just a couple of images, to show the extent degree of bend, that takes place when a piston gently kisses a valve, sorry for the poor first photo.

Well that answers my question of why all the exhaust valves were open at the same time.

LOL it sure does, you can't see from the photo's, all the inlet valves are bent too, all the Pistons have the double kiss marks.
