  • Diesel engine pre heating warning lamp

Hi all and a second post for me, this I'd hopefully nothing.

The diesel pre warning light on that comes on when the ignition is turned on a yellow double loop, wait until it goes out before starting the engine.

It says in the manual Duration of the warning lamp is due to climatic conditions.....I have never seen the light come on, I have only had the car 7 days and never seen it illuminate.

I'm presuming in that it will come on more when the weather is colder

Any others do the same or am I just been picky?

With the warmer weather I have noticed that mine doesn't come on any more. I usually wait for the clock dials to do their thing before turning on anyway so it's never been an issue

          Find a Web site http://www.diagnostic-world.com/page...hts_206717.cfm
It gives a better explanation or words it better than the manual..so the warning light only comes on when the weather is really cold, so being in Yorkshire it will be a light that i will never see.

The pre heater light for the diesel will still lit longer in colder weather yes, normally when the outside temperature drops to around 3c or less. Rule of thumb is if you see frost and your breath in the morning you will see the pre heat light.

By the way is is very important NOT to attempt to start the car until the light has gone out, you can end up doing damage to the glow plugs otherwise.

I keep telling my dad this. It
Also starts quicker if you wait until the light goes off.

So I guess I will have to start the car in stages... 😐

Key in and say 'One Mississippi'
Turn to two say 'Two Mississippi'
                    Then 'Three Mississippi' START! VROOM!

Using the word Mississippi wouldn't be compulsory it could be substituted for any word that is relevant for the situation...

                    As in

                    Key in 'Morning beautiful'
                    No 2 'please start'
                    No 3 'shit'..........
