  • Noticed something on my black bellones

    Hi,

I gave my alloys a clean yesterday and noticed the following on just one of the wheels, front near side. It's like a coating is peeling off in one area and then like an air bubble in another area. Any ideas what it is? Pictures below.

Also the wheels look pretty clean to the naked eye but on the 2nd picture you can see fine bits underneath the bubble area. Is this tar build up?

    Thanks

That looks an awful lot like the clear coat paint peeling off.

First time that have seen this on a DS3. Could be that the 1 wheel was refinished and the clear coat was very heavily applied or just a faulty factory finish? Only fix is to have the wheels paint stripped and refinished. Still a warranty on car so would go that way.

Actually I have the same on my 63 plate... Gonna take a proper look at it today. Let me know if you get anywhere on this.

Do you use any wheel cleaning product? They can be pretty harsh on the clear coat, had this happen to the wheels on my previous car.

I think in your circumstances this should be covered by Citroen under the warranty. They're pretty good at replacing Bellone wheels with the commonly scene corrosion. Ask your dealer to take pics and send them to Citroen, you can also call CUK customer services if you need to take it further.

                      Good luck

Thanks. Popped into Citroen today. They have taken pictures and will be getting back to me.

Citroen have just rang to say they are going to replace the whole wheel. 3 weeks in and already having warranty work. Oh well.

Good news then! Don't think of it as having problems already but as Citroen stepping up and providing good after sales service.
