2012 DS3 HDi dsport 6 speed gearbox issue!

Hi all,

New to the site and had my DS3 all but a week now, 2012 car done 9000miles, bought used from citroen and would like advice or any like experiences from you lot in the know!

Basically seemed fine when I test drove the car, bought it home, it sat for 2 days on the drive before I drove it next. When I did go to drive it I couldn't select any gears from standstill, after eventually attempting each different gear and depressing the clutch between I managed to get 4th, once I engaged 4th I could then select 1st or reverse and off I go. Then no further issues for that run. Then leave it again overnight and the same issue the next day!

I would say I do have some gearbox whine but have read this maybe is normal, any ideas would be appreciated, it is under one years warranty with citroen but I want to know what I might be dealing with before I deal with them!

sounds more like a clutch problem if only happens after left standing as if the clutch is sticking,you don't leave it on gear I take it?not that I know anything about it just as idea educated guess

Thanks markymark for the response, could be clutch related?!? I don't tend to leave it in gear but will start doing it now probably to avoid the problem although it doesn't solve it! Was just a bit worried if this was the start of a gearbox problem that others had experienced! I'll get citroen to check it out although they'll probably do nothing until I can't physically get it in gear!

My HDi dSport is 4 months old with 4k on the clock - it's had a gearbox whine since day one.
Took it back to the dealers and took a drive in another car (6 speed box) and it was exactly the same.
Seems worse when slowing down in 3rd/4th when the revs are dropping around 1500 - 1200 rpm.
Looks like a case of putting up with it, its about my only complaint about the car.

Yeah mine has a bit of a whine .... But only happens when the wife's in the car :rolleyes:

^ ha ha this made me laugh.

Every now and then I might struggle with first but a quick up and down on the clutch pedal and all's fine again. Certainly nothing like you describe Matt1 - as you have the warranty get it booked in at Citroen, suggest they keep it over night and lend you a courtesy car so they can see what it's like first thing in the morning

If it's under warranty get it in, I went through 2 gearboxes on mine and it was starting to play up again before I got rid of it,

No issues with gear selection at all - not yet fingers crossed!!
