  • Engine fault

Came off a roundabout today put my foot down and heard a thud. First thought was that it had jumped out of gear but the engine warning came on and alarmed. Went into limp home mode. Luckily only a couple of miles from home. Switched off engine but engine fan kept running for a few minutes. Looked under bonnet but could see nothing obvious. Tried starting it again a couple of hours later and the same thing happened. Will be going in to the garage first thing Monday morning. Any ideas what it might be.

Fan overrun is usually temp sensor.

Let us know what it is and it might be helpful to someone else with a similar issue in the future - good luck

Fan overrun happens generally every time there's an engine fault. For me it was the throttle flap error that caused it.

Does sound like a temp sensor fault, quite common and easy to fix

Fault turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump. Also had a belt tensioner replaced. It's been a mare getting things sorted spent hours on the phone to garage of purchase who were about as helpful as a chocolate tea cup so had to put car into local dealer. It still needs to go back as it is not quite right. Going to contact Citroen UK and complain about customer service.

My fuel pump went after about 2 years and I'm sure others have had the same problem. They must be made out of tissue paper.

Here we are a year on since the first fault and this is what's happened during that time. HPFP replaced, inlet valves cleaned, new cylinder head fitted, coolant expansion tank replaced and new turbo fitted. All done under warranty. Apart from that it's been a good car!!!

Why would you need to replace the coolant expansion tank?

Well it was using/losing water hence the replacement head but afterwards it was still using/losing water so the expansion tank was replaced !!!
