  • Error code P2188

Hi, I hope somebody can help me with this one.

Drove about 20 miles and parked to do some shopping, car was fine

Came back to car after about 10 mins it started ok no warning lights but when I drove off I had very little power as if it went into limp mode

Stopped car and left it for 5 mins and tried again, same thing happened

Got home and plugged in my OBD2 reader and it came up with error " P2188 System too rich at idle. Bank 1 "

Left the car for 2 hours and tried it and everything was ok, car goes fine now

Does anybody know what the error code actually means in case it does it again

    Google says:

    - Leaking fuel injector or pressure regulator
    - High fuel pressure condition
    - Faulty Oxygen (O2) Sensor
    - Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor

      Thanks for that

I'am going to keep my eye on it and if it does it again it will be a 200 mile round trip to the garage. oh joy

I've seen some problems with the high pressure fuel pump reported but I can't remember which code that was - sorry.

I had one occasion when I had a similar fault code, can't remember if it was the same code though but the description seems identical. For me the fault cleared itself after car had been shut off for about an hour. Didn't come back since. The garage said it's a generic ECU fault code and couldn't do anything about it.
