  • New DS3 ESP fault

    Hi all
This is my first post and unfortunately with a problem, sorry!
Picked up my beloved DS3 two weeks ago today and had the car 10 days before the ESP light and warning sound came on and it came up saying Engine fault. The car was recovered and the garage cant seem to find a problem. The car would start but not drive but the garage informs me the car now drives perfect but worry it'll happen again. Has anyone else has this problem?

    Many thanks
    Emma

Sounds like it went into limp home mode. There had to have been a fault code stored in the computer when it did. That is usually the first place to start.

as stated above, you should probably try to get the fault code off your dealer so you know where to look if it happens again. They will have probably been cleared now.
Thankfully my dealer has supplied me with any fault code details whenever they've been present.

I seriously wish the radio screen would present us with useful fault information. Considering the screen has its own faults/diagnostic log.
My one had a "STOP, Braking system faulty" warning one morning (when I was looking forward to driving home off nightshift). User manual says not to drive the car when a stop message is present.
I decided to get it towed on a flatbed to the dealer.
Turned out to be brake fluid a hair below the sensor (due to pads wearing out).

By not drive, do you mean the engine power was reduced? or it wouldn't move at all? if it wouldn't move at all, could be a malfunction with the ESP holding brakes on.
If it happens again, just make sure to ask the dealer what fault codes were present.

The car went into limp mode. The garage picked up two fault codes but said "they didnt know what they were" so have currently driven it 50 miles in the hopes it does it again. Today they are replacing the resistor for the fan which was brought up as a 'fault' code yesterday. They have had the car 6 days now so wondering if i am being fobbed off being a female.
In the 15 days of owning the car i have had it on my drive for only 9 :-(

I wondered that cyclone, normally they know what all the codes mean as you'd expect

How old is the DS3 Emma ?
