I don't think you will have fried your clutch already. You sure it wasn't that lovely smell of burning rubber instead? Guess that if you are unhappy with the way your car is driving then get it checked over by Citroen to be on the safe side.

I give my clutch a hell of a lot of stick and have no problems with it burning out. As cooper says if you think its dodge take it back to the dealer to have it checked out

You'll have a very hard job braking your clutch in one go. You tend to feel wear in the plates over time (mothers 06 punto has just had hers replaced) as the bite tends to move further and further up.

Find a nice flat piece of road and slowly release your clutch. Not all the way so that it stalls but enough so that it starts to roll forwards. That should give you an idea of where you should be pushing down the accelerator.

If you've driven older cars with worn out clutches then this may be why you're seeing such a difference

The 'bite' point should be high for a Citroen, you may have overheated the clutch and caused some wear. Best thing to do is get it checked and adjusted but bear in mind that this is something you will most likely pay for unless your dealer is happy to do the check as a goodwill gesture.

And pay for it you will If my C3 is anything to go by £850 Citroen dealer, £350 Mr Clutch, though I managed to get it done for £200 by a garage charging £25 an hour labour.

Mind you orignal clutch lasted 110,000 miles. Car also still has the original exhaust after130,000. Must be because it's a diesel - helps rust proof the exhaust.

As an aside, C3 cam belt to be replaced at 150,000 miles so I'll be getting rid of it just in time - assume it's also 150,000 for the DS3. Mate of mine trashed his Astra when the cam belt bust.

a friend of mine works at a well known car hire company at a major airport (no names ) and he hired a brand new car out to a customer, only to get it back the next day (1000 miles on the clock) and the clutch completly burnt out! I mean there was absolutly nothing left on it! Quite impressive!

Anyway, doubt yours will be a problem mate
