Heavy condensation on inside of windscreen!

Afternoon folks, I was wondering if anyone has had this issue that is currently bothering me...

When coming to the car first thing in the morning or at the end of a day at work, my front windscreen can be totally soaking. Sometimes it is less and the fans can clear it but other times it needs to be wiped away, which then means drops of water going everywhere and a soggy cloth! It's just the windscreen usually and sometime a little on the dials.

The car is just over a year old and I don't seem to remember having any bother last winter. It's not been particularly cold yet so a little concerned the closer it is getting to actual winter. Don't want to come out and it's frozen on the inside! It's only recently that I've noticed it, probably since it came back from a service a few weeks ago, coincidence? Probably! Any ideas? I was thinking maybe the seals around the windows for some reason? I was thinking that because there appears to be louder road noise coming from the seal area but that could just be me imagining things.

The car is booked in to get checked over in a few weeks, I just wondered if there was any common faults that would explain it?

Check the carpeting to see if it is wet. All the footwells, under the seats and where the spare tire would go.

Nope. None of that. Only the windscreen after it's been sat for a while. It's not every time though either. Sometimes I think, oh it's a cold morning then get out and it's fine then next time when I think it's a bit milder and should be fine, it's not.

Could it possibly be anything to do with the position the blowers are left before its shut off?

I do use my air con a lot. I've never had any issues of the car steaming up when I'm it in. Only recently it's started and only after its been sat for a while.

Are you loosing engine coolant? The part that would concern me is that it didn't happen last winter, So the question is what has changed?

If it is that bad it sound like a water leak in there somewhere, or leaves blocking the drainholes under the bonnet between beneath the windscreen

A dirty/blocked pollen filter can also be a contributing factor

If they changed the pollen filter did they clear/drop leaves into the air chamber?

Most likely not but that you can see yourself! 1st get a torch then open the bonnet and look down into the outside rear corners of the area under the plastic grill at the base of the windscreen. There is a big hole on each side for water to drain out. If there is water standing there the holes are plugged and it is very possible that it overflowed into the car causing your problem.

Whilst our windows were not misting up, mind you it was in the summer. I accidentally pushed one of the pegs that secures the drivers mat down through the carpet. I poked my finger through to see if I could retrieve it. There is quite a distance between the carpet and the floor. I found the sound deadening absolutely soaked with water, both front and rear foot Wells. But the carpet was bone dry. This might be the case here. The carpet feels dry. But the foot well is full of water. In our case the air con drain off pipe had come off and the water was running into the car. Might be worth checking that out.

Where abouts is the drain off pipe located?

That I am not too sure. The dealer sorted it under warranty. I would presume it is seen from underneath the car, probably by the heater.I would be looking for a pipe or tubing to drain off the air con water.

Thanks for all replies. I've checked and all fluids are fine. Nothing to take note of in the engine compartment.

On the point about the little clips for the carpet mats, I had one come off a while back and was never able to get it back in but no water that I can see down there.

Really stumped. It was freezing here on Saturday morning and nothing, windscreen was fine so not sure what is going on. I've been making sure my windows are definately fully closed so at a loss to what it might be. Guess I'll just monitor it for time being until it goes in.
