  • Reversing light issue

I just wondered if anyone else has come across this problem. I recently bought a ds3 2012 model and I noticed after a while that my reverse light was red instead of white.

I have tried to find a clear bulb to replace it with but I can't find any bulb other than a red one or an indicator bulb that fits! The socket has offset pins.

I have taken it to halfords, the garage I got it from and now a Citroen dealership and no one seems to be able to find a bulb that fits! The citeon dealership is going to raise this with the Citroen technical team but as I said I just wondered if anyone else has come across this or has any suggestions?

Is it possible that whoever put the bulbs in put the fog light and reverse light the wrong way round? I don't have my manual to hand to check the bulb types but it's the only thing I can think of.

According to the Owner's Handbook it's a P21W, a very common bulb; however, there's something odd if your bulbholder has offset pins, as P21W is a single-filament bulb so there's only one, central, contact.

Perhaps the light bulbs are part of a whole unit but as you say when i may have got a duff one and the wrong socket was put in, fog lights on both sides!

It seems to be a mystery! Hopefully Citroen will put it right without a cost to me!

Quick question, what bulb is in the other side where the rear fog light is?

Your missing bulb may be on the other side so to speak.

The light on the other side is the correct red bulb fog light.

I have just had a brain wave - I bet the car has had to have this light replaced and its been replaced with the French version or was wrongly fitted with the French version initially - which have their reversing and fog lights the other way around to the UK - hence why my light housing both have the socket for a fog light

The thought did occur to me too as there are different part codes for the UK spec lights. It might mean you ending up having to get a new light unit...

As I said the last time this was discussed, I suspect that the lamp unit itself is the same for both versions, only the bulbs being different. It's most likely that the units are bought in as a complete assembly, including bulbs, so for production purposes it will be necessary to have different part numbers for LHD & RHD versions.
