tyre tread peeled

Hi everyone

I got my car washed and noticed when i got home a bit of Tyre tread was peeled off. what should i do?

can i superglue it back together?

Superglue no. depending on how big it is, a tire shop will be able to advise you with that. Or post a pic, might be an obvious call. It can be 1 ignored, 2 cut off and ignored, or 3 a new tire may be required.

Black tape is actually a legally accepted car tyre lifespan enhancer.

Looks fine tbf. If tyre pressure starts to drop quicker than usual I'd get it changed.

In the tire sidewall is a bad place. That said it appears to be just the outer rubber without any visible damage to the cord but hard to tell how deep it really is. If you see anything that looks like thread or wire in there then get it replace ASAP. I would say it looks ok but keep an eye on it. For your own peace of mind stop by a tyre shop and get them to take a quick look.

Agree with Cyclone - better to be safe than sorry. Tyre place will be able to advise you best.

I had a similar rip before after kerbing the wheel. It didn't blow out but it definitely increases the risk. I'd consider replacing it.

Replace it. High speed blowouts are not good for the constitution!!

Or your underwear, a blowout can cause skid marks in those as well
