  • Dust cover for headlamp - anyone had to replace this?

Hi there, (And happy new year!)

After changing my lightbulb, my dust cover has disappeared... (Well, maybe not put back on right/if at all! - and not by myself!)
I've checked out with Citroen for a new one, and they want £50 for a pair.
Can anyone recommend where to get one from? Checked Ebay, but theres none on there for the Ds3.

Just wondering if anyone has had to replace before - and if so where from?
Or if anyone has a spare one they are happy to sell.

    Thanks all.

Ebay might be a good shout, a call to a couple of scrapyards near you might pay off too.

You may be able to find some from another model that'll fit (possibly the C3), measure it up beforehand and see how you get on.

Jesus that's pricey. I did the same thing on my clio and a replacement was like £15 iirc. Also scrappies wouldn't even entertain me buying a single dust cover, would only sell full light clusters. Just a heads up...

Managed to get hold of one, from Citroen - £30 a pair, but had a random one they sold me for £12.50, so not too bad - but when you look at what youre getting.... ouch!

Not a bad outcome! Glad its all sorted now

But £50 is silly money for what it is! Even for a pair!

You could be right and the OP did suggest the same too

I always double check mine to ensure they're properly fitted all the way round when I fit new lightbulbs

I had a bung 'disappear' - I was cleaning the compost out from under the windscreen and lost the prongy bung. I say lost, it fell into the wheel arch lining and I couldn't find it again!

several times i have found the right large one popped off and lying flat.

the trouble is they are air tight and so large posituve changes in temperature or ambient air pressure will pop them free. eg if you reseat them on a cold low pressure day they are bound to pop off when hot

                              THE FIX
take a pin or needle and heat with a flame and push through the rubber to create a weather tight but not pressure tight vent - that way the cap wont act like a diaphragm
