  • DS3 1.6 e-Hdi - Sluggish & Different

    Hi guys,

So... I've had my DS3 since March 15 and I have done just over 12k miles. For a while the car steering has felt a bit funny as if sometimes you have no control over the steering, so I took it to Citroen for a free health check up and they said everything was okay..

Now.. it's not okay, the same feeling persists and now with some additional problems. These new problems were only felt for about 2 or 3 days:

    - Sluggish - the car feels really heavy, like if I take my foot off the gas it feels as if it's breaking and the speed drops at a fast rate, which is unusual for a diesel car. Also, I seem to struggle reaching a good speed, like it feels as if I am driving against a very strong wind!

    - Drivers window - if I have my window open for a bit, when I close it... after a few mins of being closed a clicking noise happens.

Someone please tell me I am not going mad here..

From the issues you describe I doubt you're going mad

I've not heard of these issues before but it certainly sounds like something isn't right, a few questions if I may:
    1. Has the sluggish feeling only started happening since the colder weather arrived ?
    2. How long does the clicking you describe go on for ?
    3. Is the clicking from the door/window area or does it sound like a relay ? Does the clicking sound like it's coming from the dashboard ?
    4. Re the braking effect you describe - are you able to put the car on axle stands and see if each wheel spins freely when the handbrake is not applied ?
    5. Has the mpg figure taken a hit with these issues that you've noted ?

I had a friend who is a mechanic look at it today, he drove it and says it is very likely an issue with the injectors and the steering is something to do with the electrics behind it.. So I've booked in a diagnosis with Citroen as the car is less than a year old and has been driving sensibly despite one speeding fine impossible to happen now with it being so sluggish!

In fact, he drove it, got to second gear and drove it at 2RPM for a while and when he gave it back to me the sluggishness seemed a bit better.

The clicking sound is coming from the window. I forgot to mention that to my friend thou, so hopefully Citroen will be able to diagnose wth is wrong with it.

Sounds like a binding brake to me. Take it for a short drive and when you get back just touch each wheel with the back of your hand and see if one is hot. Careful I've burned by hand before.
