  • Help please regarding '64 plate ds3 Dsire blue hdi

Hello folks. Am after some help with a recent issue on my partners ds3.

Firstly, it doesn't do it all the time, and we have been back to main dealer who can't find fault.

So to all you knowledgeable people out there. Every now and then the car sounds like the exhaust is blowing, and sounds more raspy. There is also now a whiff of burning smell. I drive the car at weekends, but my partner, she only drives 4mile each way to work.

    Any guidance muchly appreciated.

    Thankyou

Sounds like the DPF regenerating, nothing to worry about. The smell is caused by particles being burnt off.

Yep have to agree. The dpf us the most likely cause. Since you drive only a short distance the dpf is not allowed enough time to regenerate itself and would eventually clog up.

I would suggest a spirited drive for at least 30-60 minutes and no town driving. Get it out on a good long dual carriageway or motorway to allow the engine to heat up the exhaust and burn off any diesel particles that have built up in the dpf.

I like to think of it as it needs to clear its throat

Keep us posted after your spirited drive and let us know if it has stopped
