  • Airflow Meter or DPF?? Need Help??

    Hi all,

Im looking for some help to diagnose a problem on my Citroen DS3 1.6 Diesel. For some time I was getting the risk of filter clogging warning which i tried to fix by blasting it on the motorways - no luck. Now im getting an engine fault warning when turning the engine on.

I took it into a garage today and was told that diagnostics came up a problem with the airflow metre. The cost of this part is approx £130 and non-refundable.

My question is, is it likely to be the air flow meter or the DPF.

The garage can do a forced regen for me for £40. Is it worth trying this first before anything else?

    Cheers

Doesn't the first of those two paragraphs answer the question in the second?

If diagnostics have shown a problem with the air flow meter the problem is. . .

The garage said they can't be sure and would be surprised if the airflow meter had gone on a car which had done 25k miles.

The fact I was getting risk of filter clogging messages before I started getting the engine fault messages made me think DPF??

Have they told you exactly what fault the diagnostics are showing? The "risk of filter clogging" messages may be linked to a faulty AFM - it's possibly causing the engine to overfuel (not that I know much about diesels!)

          Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure of the exact fault sorry. Do you think the best call is to take it to a Citroen dealer and risk paying over the odds or pay for the new filter to be fitter in the hope that it works?

          Cheers
