Great news!!! This weekend I received an e-mail from the independent expert. Three months (!!!) after I brought my car in, Citroën has made a decision. They'll be paying the cost for a new engine! I'll only have to pay for the wear and tear parts, such as filters,... My dealer has already ordered a new engine last week, and is awaiting it's delivery so it can be built into my car..
If this includes a new turbo too, I don't know, this is all the info I've got atm.. Finally there is some light at the end of the tunnel!
    Awesome!

I take it there will be something about warranty on the new engine to agree on or have stated from Citroen?

I don't have the details yet. I only received a short mail from the expert, nothing from the dealer/Citroën (yet).

          (Hopefully) final update.

After almost 4 months, I've picked up my car last week! They replaced all the needed parts 2 weeks ago, but during testing they found out they had to replace the HPFP too. In the end I only had to pay for that. And they didn't charge the full price for that as a good will gesture. So the final bill for everything was €560. I could live with that!
The car drives like new again! Did a lot of pointless driving last week, just because I've missed driving it so much.
In the 3.5 years of owning the car, I think I've collected the full set of the known THP problems now. Fingers crossed everything will stay OK this time!

To be honest mate, and nice one you have your car back, is that the faults you have mentioned point to single components needing replacing rather than the engine. And to be honest components that most of us have had replaced either under or out of warranty.

Od that a HPFP should go on a relatively recent car, Jamie replaced mine and his own (with the latest variant) but we have 150 engines with the original part. Also carbonisation and stretching of the timing chain are well know issues with the engine.

Still you have it back so hopefully happy motoring from now on

FLP - WOW!! I've just read the whole story for the first time. What a saga!! So pleased everything got sorted and you have your car back. Great news. Did they give you any kind of warranty on the engine and work done?
