Apple Car play - 16 Plate

Hi everyone,

just drove home my DS3 16 plate from the dealership and I'm loving it. However, despite numerous scouting around before hand I was lead to believe that this car was Apple Carplay compatible, only to discover once I'd finished up and was plugging my iphone in that it didn't work. The dealership told me after querying it that Citreon told them "carplay doesn't work on DS3's".

So, I'm confused. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

According to Citroen/DS, CarPlay is only available on facelift DS3s, even then it's only if you pay for the option.

It's possible to activate it on older touchscreen systems if you have the right software or a friendly dealer. Though be aware, this could void your warranty and dealers have been told to not do it as its not supported by Citroen UK.

Is the facelift DS3 the one with the new chrome bits at front (which I have, latest model) or something else entirely? Thanks for the reply. It's no deal breaker, I just had the assumption due to advertising that it was built in with the new models. I haven't had a chance to test, but I assume if there's no CarPlay there's no MirrorLink either? :/

As he said it is an option when you order the car, costs 100 pounds and Carplay and MirrorLink come together as a bundle.

It's on the online configurator as an option, though in my opinion it should be standard - it is on a Skoda Fabia. Worth having too, I think, because I don't find the rest of the system on the latest DS3s that easy to navigate.

I know on the new Peugeot 208's you need a special USB Cable for it to work.

The dealership said they want to bring me in for an hour next week and they'll attempt to get it working. Apparently it is already built in to my model but Citreon are convinced it doesn't work so has disabled it. I was told that one of the service guys turned it on in their own DS3 and have been trying to tell citreon it's working fine to no avail. I've asked if it'll affect my warranty if they do carry it out, but I won't be able to get the answer until they're back at work next week.

I'm a little skeptical in all honesty regarding both the warranty and them carrying it out, but, they said they'd add it at no cost to myself if they can so we'll see. In truth if it's just an option that was missed, I'd happily pay the £100 now, just as I would've had I been given the option originally.

UPDATE: They've called me in for tomorrow to try and enable Carplay. I've been assured it won't affect my warranty if they're successful, so fingers crossed!

UPDATE 2: Job done. 20 mins. Works great. Happy DS3 owner.

I've had my 16 plate for a few weeks. It's the Chic model. Any idea what the CarPlay situation is for my model? After reading this forum, I've emailed my sales person and she's said its a factory option so I can't get it. However, I get the impression it's a software thing?

It is a software thing B U T right now it is only factory order. Dealers have been instructed to not add it after the fact. Hopefully this policy will change and dealers will be able to sell the upgrade for anyone that wants it and has the correct hardware.
