  • DS3 Engine Light Issues

So I brought my DS3 last August. In November the Engine light come on (it's a 2012 plate with 19,000 miles), turns out the 1 and 4th coil needed replacing ... Done.

About 2 months ago, driving home, suddenly the temperature goes to the top, and the engine light comes on and it tells me to stop as engine temperature fault, go to garage and have this done and moved to its new place.

3 days later, the engine light comes back on, take it to garage and it's showing as the coil 1 again, so the garage replace the coil 1, fine. Drive to work, park up, get to my car and the engine light comes back on. Drive to garage bearing in mind the fan is going berserk and didn't stop going for 5 minutes after stopping the engine. They do diagnostics and it saying coil 1 again, so they move each coil over one to see if when the engine light comes on again, if it still says the same coil, car was fine for 2 days.

Today again after being in the car park at work, turn the engine on and the engine light is back on, on the way home temperature goes to he top and the engine temperature fault stop the vehicle message displays.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on? I'm taking it back to garage again tomorrow but I am slowly falling out of love with this beautiful car...

Does the engine feel very hot ?

Some older DS3s have had problems with the temperature sensor - I wonder if this could be related ? A search of the forum should yield more info for you

Hi, I did have the temperature sensor changed (and moved) the other week, they didnt however replace the 'hood' as Citreon said that it may get away with just the sensor and re-map. Would this now be causing the engine light on the coil though? The garage have mentioned this morning it could be the head gasket.
