Engine management light

HI has anyone had this problem my elm came on when driving down the motorway no loss of power etc, drove it with the light on for a further 20 miles with no problems, I stopped the car and press the eco button and the elm light went out, don't understand it could it be the start stop unit playing up, has anyone else had this problem and what did you have done to your car to sort it, my car is a dstyle ehdmi 90 👍

I think I remember someone here had a similar problem with his eco unit.
Can't find the thread right now.
If I remember rigthly it had something do with the electric box for the eco unit mounted in the wheel well. Was corroded due to water.

This that's very helpful Jan79 I was just wondering if I could just pull a fuse and do away with the start stop unit so pointless on a turbo car 👍

You can turn off the stop/start via the button low down on the right by the door if you want. I had mine on for years and liked that it saves fuel when in queues etc.

Is the error code definitely in response to the Stop/Start system ? I wondered if it might be the Diesel Particle Filter giving a warning ?

Its a strange fault because as soon as I switched the start stop switch off the light went out don't make sense

If an error code was created this would be logged on the ECU.

A local garage or Citroen dealer should be able to read this code from your ECU and diagnose the fault, if any.

Yea not worth putting it into a garage and get charged stupid money when after pressing the start stop button and it has cleared the eml but thxs Bro

It's the start stop unit that has a fault need to get under the wheel arch and see the condition of it has its been known to rust I believe 👍

Nope, at most you will hear the fan at a higher speed when stationary and the green Eco light will flash to show that the stop/start cannot engage as the DPF clean cycle is running.

The cleaning cycle does not through up warning lights if it's working correctly though.

I'm doing 80 miles a day on motorway to work so I would like to think that the filter is OK 👍

Yeah should be, mine hasn't been a problem in 3 years of having it. My motorway journeys are longer but less frequent

How do you know without reading for codes?

Yea I know it's the Start Stop unit that has a fault I will be having a look at it soon to check if it's rusty 👍
