DS3 THP 150 Oct 2010 - Oil Level Problems ?

I have had my DS3 THP150 from new in October 2010 and done about 44,000 miles.

The 'Top Up Oil' message came on earlier today (This typically happens about once per year between services.) Checked the Dip Stick and there was oil but low, so I added 1 litre.
Checked the dipstick again and it was about 1/2 way.
Went for a little ride about 20 miles and each time that I restarted the car the message came up.
Added another litre when I got home. The Oil Level is now at Full on the dipstick but the message still comes up even if I run the engine for a short while then switch off wait a moment and switch on.
Any ideas Anyone ? I am quite happy to drive the car with the message coming on every time I start it but it seems a little odd.

I believe the low oil level warning only resets after a set number of restarts and/or a set mileage.

The low oil level warning should be regarded as a last resort - check the oil regularly & topping up at regular intervals is better than waiting for a warning & adding large quantities.

Normally takes about 24hrs for the warning to reset IIRC.

thankyou for your information - the distance thing could explain why I have never had the warning remaining on issue before
