  • OBD2 and carbonized vavles

Im about to buy a obd2 adapter.
Can you diagnose carbonized inlet valves with it?
Which parameters get affected when the inlet valves are carbonized (heared somthing about fuel compensation)? what fault codes should i be looking for?

    Thank you,
    Alex.

Most generic obd2 readers won't show all the fault codes coming from the ecu.
Checking the fuel trims can indicate there's a problem if it's reading high.

If you want to see all the fault codes, get a Lexia tool with diagbox software. Otherwise, you'll only get minimum legally required info from a generic OBD (rpm, speed, coolant temp).

edit: Oh, and if you do get a lexia tool (or similar), look for the "superknock" or "knock" codes, along with a bunch of other alarms like too rich, too lean, etc.
