The engine is the same design as the THP albeit producing more power due to certain differences. Being direct injection it will suffer the same issues as the THP and other cars using this design ie carbonisation of the valves.
Some cars both R and DSport suffered problems with high pressure fuel pumps and the timing chain tensioner. There are incidences of piton failure, more so on the Racing as it runs a higher power output.
What i dont know, as people rarely come on forums just to say their car has no issues, is how many Racings as a percentage have had these issues and if they have all been rectified.
My DSport had all components prone to failure replaced under warranty with newer spec versions without there being an issue, the only case this didn't happen was the high pressure fuel pump which threw up a fault code when well out of warranty which i had replaced with the latest spec version.
What everybody will say, is if you buy a Racing, check what has been replaced and check it comes with a warranty.

Check if timing has ever been corrected/replaced and where possible see if you can get a mechanic to get a camera inside of the engine to inspect for any carbonisation of the valves.cyclone> Fish is the man

There will be lots of info and user feedback in the R section -
http://www.ds3club.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?26-DS3-R
And as SFG has mentioned plus that we reiterate is that people rarely brag about how awesome everything is going - so it's all with a pinch of salt. Yes I know of a lot of faults with the Racing BUT at the same time, its what people need help and assistance with. So of course this will be brought up a few times
