  • Strange noise during acceleration and heavy oil cosumption

    Hi everyone.
    Once again greetings from Moscow!

Couple of days ago I spotted some strange noise from my DS3 THP 150 during acceleration. There will be a short vid below so you may hear it but in real life it is really loud
the car sounds like a supercharged australian Holden

The second problem is enormous oil consumption about 1 liter per 550 miles. There are no external leaks. The valve cover gasket has been replaced 2 times already and last time it was ok.
There are also no blue smoke and loss of dynamics so logically oil does not burn inside. The air tubes seem ok too, but there is some oil inside. As I know it is normal for the modern turbo engines.
I think maybe noise comes because of air leak in pipes somewhere and the oil from pipes at the same time also goes outside? What do you think?

Could probably do with a vacuum test in order to confirm your theory of an air leak.

The THP is prone to a number of issues; turbo, timing and carbonisation of the valves are the most common issues with the THP and would be my first points of investigation.

Let us know how you get on.

UPD: Yesterday the whistling noise was louder and then became a growl. It seems that turbocharger bearing has completely collapsed.

Another update: Turbocharger and exhaust manifold are damaged due to possible overheat.

You mean engine overheating? What caused the over heating? Did you noticed it?

As a remeber the car did was nor over heating, the service center told me that it might be a possinble reason for damage.
But I think this is just a factory reject. I have already heart about ep6dt engines with cracked maniflods.
