  • Waiting before engine shut down

    Hello,
I have been reading a lot about waiting a minute before shutting down the engine for the turbo to stop spinning. If you shut down immediately, the turbo will keep spinning without oil.
On the contrary, i read that most modern turbo cars have an electric pump that keeps providing oil to the turbo after engine shut down.

Does the ds3 has this pump? Should i wait before engine shutdown?

    Thank you,
    Alex.

The turbo is water cooled and there is a small dedicated electric pump to circulate the coolant after the engine is shut off. So just turn it off and walk away.

You should be able to hear the pump after shutdown.

I can hear the pump after turning off on my new car but I doubt the ehdi had one as I never heard it on that

Believe it or not, your turbo will look like that when under full engine load, high boost, and yes the turbo survived, what you see is perfectly normal.

                        Crap that looks hot.....

On that, I'm amazed at how much hotter the S1 is compared to the DS3 eHDi, it shows 90 degrees constant once warmed up but the heat that radiates off it in the garage surprises me

The exhaust port which is glowing....for BMW mini is that designated as cylinder 3? For PSA it would be designated as cylinder 2, cylinder 1 being closest to the flywheel.

yes the cylinder designation is from left to right.
