  • Stuttering power on cold startup.

    Hi

For a couple for months I have had an issue with very poor acceleration on cold startup. I have a 2011 Dsign @ 54K miles.

When I put my foot down to accelerate, it doesn't accelerate! There is no power at all - it feels almost like limp home mode - without any lights on the dash.

After a bit of stuttering, it fixes itself for the entire length of the journey. If I start the engine while warm, it is fine.

I thought this maybe the fuel filter but my local garage says the DS3 does not have a separate filter?

Yesterday, it went in for a recall on the temperature sensor and today it had new sparkplugs. I'm not sure that's going to fix it, but strangely I had no problems this morning - after yesterday's sensor replacement.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

    Thanks
    Iain.

You neglect to mention what engine you have.

As cyclone said, if you can confirm which engine and size you have (Vti, eHDi, THP etc) we can probably help more and you should be able to narrow down the results using the search function top right above

        It's a 1.4 Vti, thanks.

So what you're saying is that the new sensor & plugs have cured it? It's most likely to have been a failed sensor, as that would have given a false temperature reading to the ECU which would have set the fuel/air mixture level accordingly, in this case too weak for the actual temperature.

Yes it looks that way. I have not had one issue since the sensor was replaced on Tuesday. I would never have thought it was related.
