  • Whining noise

Just seeing if anyone else had any issues. Just started to get a really loud whining noise when get over 30mph. Been told its tyre noise, and I know I have seen a few posts about this. Just worried about throwing money at new rear tyres and is something more major.
    Cheers

Do you have a video of the noise ?

Also what age is the car ? What mileage etc so we can steer (sorry) away from bearings etc.... Have you checked the brakes aren't binding ?

Finally what tyres are on your DS3 currently ?

If it's tyre noise it will vary with road surface. Tyre noise is usually more of a roar than a whine.

Is the other half in the passenger seat?

          Or maybe gearbox?
          Aircon?

Hi it is a 60 plate. Just touched 52000 miles. Have got the Bridgestone's on the rear. No sign of any binding. Just had MOT and all passed ok. Tread depth is 3.5mm, been told that these do get noisy as they get lower. I was concerned incase of a bearing / binding issue. I know the rear brakes on these have the bearings built into the disc and hub as one

Take the tyres off and, without replacing them, see if the noise still remains. Then you can say it's those tyres.

Just a quick update on this
This was just the rear tyres - brakes all ok, tyres had started to break up inside. They said it is a common occurance on the Bridgestone's.
