Cruise control/computer issue

Afternoon all,

First time poster, recent DS3 owner having previously had one as a company car. I bought a 5 year old DS3 recently and have had a few issues but the most worrying so far is the onboard computer.

It randomly seems to stop letting me use the cruise control function at all which isn't the end of the world however when this happens it also stops reading how many miles I've done on that journey and the overall milometer. Has anyone else had this problem and/or know a fix for it? i've had it recovered back to the garage I bought her from who have failed to resolve the issue and I don't want to lose her for another week whilst they faff around again.

You could try the similar threads at the bottom of the page - now you've posted this it should show 'cruise control' posts and one might be helpful....

Did yours come with a warranty from the garage ?

Thanks for coming back to me. Worrying to hear it's not a common fault.

It came with a 3 month warranty and I've had her a month tomorrow - worryingly I've also had issues with a snapped Drive Belt on the alternator and a snapped gear cable so not having the best time with her at the moment

Cruise control can only be used above 24mph in 4th gear or above. If you're definitely doing that then it sounds broken to me... Worth getting it checked out under the warranty.

On mine it also operates in 3rd gear.

If the cruise control is cutting out my guess is that you have a faulty brake switch on the car which is an easy fix. Whether this is also tied in with you data issue I'm not sure.

Do you have an automatic?

From the manual:

The cruise control is switched on manually: it requires a minimum vehicle speed of 25 mph (40 km/h), as well as the engagement of:
- fourth gear on a manual gearbox,
- second gear on a or automatic or electronic gearbox, in sequential mode,
- position A on an electronic gearbox or position d on an automatic gearbox.

I think there is also a switch on the clutch pedal too
