Right when i start the car it flashes 'Oil' a few times then it goes out. Is that good??

As cyclone said before, be guided by the dipstick above all other indicators. If that's showing enough oil you can worry less about the indicator lamps and drive it to the dealer for investigation if still needed

This is the sensor saying you need to add oil. Oil OK is exactly that and oil_ _ is a self diagnosed fault in system. If oil showing normal on dipstick feel good about driving it down for it's doctors appointment.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Very funny though, started the car this morning, oil showing 'ok' and no error message or service light! Topped the oil up just to safe, but should i still take it back to the dealer to read the fault and check it out?

I don't think it's a fault. It happened every time for me. If it was me I'd manually check the oil at periods and keep on top of it before the light comes on and keep an eye on any signs around the top of the engine, pipes etc and how often it needed oil with mileage done notes 😊 If it all seems to fall into a pattern and normal routine/intervals then rest at ease.

Most DS3 petrol and diesel have fault for "oil gauge sensor" in th BSI module....don't know why, mine has it but it's never had an issue

Thanks guys. Its a long way to take it back potentially for nothing so i think i'll just monitor it as you've suggested and see how it goes

So today the same message came up again, service light followed by 'top up engine oil'. When i checked the oil it was only about half a centimeter from max so put a drop more in, but thats got to need looking at right? Surely it cant be normal for the dash to say that the minute the oil drops below max?

How much oil has been added to the car since it's last oil change?

I have no idea, all i know is that when we picked it up just over 2 months ago it was at about half when the service light first came on after about 4 weeks. I filled it up to max with a few 100ml. Then today ive literally only put maybe 50ml in to top it back up to max but the message is still showing on the dash

Very strange, just been out to turn the car over and oil showing as 'ok' again with no warning message. Defo going to ring Citroen and get it looked at under warrenty, the warning shouldnt come on if oil isnt at max!

If you don't know how much oil is in the car or the state of the oil it may be worthwhile giving this a change and seeing if the error rears itself again.

I'd guess the oil sensor is faulty. I think I've read before that it takes a while for the sensor to clock the oil has been topped up. That might explain the delay you're seeing but not the false alerts
