  • DS3 THP Noise when dropping rpm?

    Anyone had similar "problem"?

I reckon there's something wrong, just don't have idea what can be. The metalic noise is the "faulty" I'm mentioning, as if the exhaust is loose.
The sound seems to be from somewhere under the passenger seat/back seat.
My local Citroen had the car for a day and said nothing wrong. Surprised, hahaha.
They justified as possibly changing gears too fast (aka lower rpm), sounding like the car was going to stall. Not the case.
Happens after accelerating, when the rpm start to drop, sometimes during gear change. Awful as pedestrians can hear too (I can tell by the way they're looking at the car, hahaha).
    Any ideas?

Heat shield around turbo/cat or one of the heat shields under car? Bang around on stuff and see what rattles.

Definitely sounds like loose heatshield . Look at my thread and watch that video. http://www.ds3club.co.uk/showthread....HP-165-gearbox

I took mine to the garage and they found a loose heatshield. They said at factory the bolts have crossthreaded and sheared off causing the heatshield to flap about. They had to take the turbo out to get to mine, so I assume it was the turbo one that was loose.

After more tests, just realize the noise is coming from the turbo area, and when starting the car from cold the area around the chain area is quite noisy.
Have booked the car in for Wednesday so let's hope they sort it out.

I was hoping that the issue was fixed for the 15 plate.
The MK1 RCZ had issues, same engine. Quite rare to occur on MK2, same used for the second generation of DS3.
Too bad my dealer in Cambridge isn't great. Let's see what they say Wednesday.

With this engine, not sure the issue will ever be fixed

The dealer recognized that there's a problem, but Citroen claims as it's happening a lot (more than 10 reports in Cambridge alone), they're justifying as normal for the THP models. Unacceptable. Will have to chase the dealer in Conventry who sold me the car 5 months ago ad get sorted or start a fight to return the car, considering the deductions from the 5k miles I've done so far. Possibly a sign to go for another car.

Just a quick update. Contacted Citroen Customer Service, basically they said that they rely on the local dealers to deal with the problems, but how they can sort something if Citroen don't want them to sort the problems? Claiming as normal for the car, etc.
Hopefully will manage to part-ex for another car and never a Citroen again.

Problem sorted. My local dealer was useless.
In one minute, just starting the car the technician from Robins and Day Letchworth spot the problem.
One week later belt and all related parts replaced, car is smooth as butter.
Just upset as I got rid of the RCZ because I couldn't stand the service from Marshalls anymore and was in the same position about the DS3.
Now just have another car and the DS3 is up for sale, hahaha.

I had the exact same problem and after several visits to the dealership they changed the turbo and now no noise ☺
