  • Water in footwell driver's side.

I have owned a 2010 DS3 for the last three years and have loved it. However, a couple of weeks ago I discovered the carpet behind the driver's seat was saturated. When I lifted it slightly I discovered there was literally a puddle of clear water (not soapy,or dirty) underneath. Further investigation revealed it was wet underneath the carpet at the front too. At this point I stopped driving the car until my local garage had a free slot to take a look at it.
The following week when I started up the engine to take it into the garage, the engine was found to be mis-firing on two of its pistons.
My local garage could not find the source of the water ingress, but eliminated the possibility of it being the air con or the screen wash. He also suspected the engine problem to be related in some way as it is apparently, too much of a coincidence as two pistons very rarely would misfire at the same time! My mechanic was also concerned as there were several indications of rust - one being the base of my steering column, behind the pedals. There's even rust dust in my glove compartment, which I hadn't noticed! He didn't charge me a penny and recommended I get the car into my local Citroen dealership asap. This has resulted in my having to wait for 10 more days - it is booked in for later this week, so the wait goes on!
My Citroen dealership say they are not aware of a common fault on DS3's but there seem several posts on this website that describe such problems. However, having read through many of them, I haven't found anything conclusive.
So I was just wondering if anyone has got any advice or suggestions based on similar experiences? Thanks.

Just check the place where the tubing for the screewash fluid pass the firewall, black grommet. Mine was loose, so had the same problem. Once fixed, which was a pain to put back in place (need to remove the front wiper motors), when I was installing the front speakers and running cables from the amp, one of the grommets got loose. The one from the body of the car, may create a puddle inside the car. If it's the one from the door, the door will hold water. Some luck, all sorted in time before become a problem.
Another advise is to use those bags to absorb humidity. The foam under the carpet is a pain to dry, as will still wet for a while. Once sorted the water income point, try removing the driver seat, attention to the connected cables. Towels under the carpet, pressing the carpet. Hairdrier will help to eliminate moisture. Even when you think there's nothing left, will be some. In this case, put the seat back on and keep one of those bags, mentioned before under the carpet, little space but can be done. After one day or two, take out to dry and once dried, put back until there's no more moisture.
Mine took about 2 weeks to be dry.
