  • 2 years issue free until this week

I've had my 2011 ds3 1.6hdi (110) for two years and love the car today as much as I did when I picked it up. Not driving slowly I'm
currently getting 67.1mpg and up till now (60,000 miles), has proved to be a very reliable car.

When I picked up the car I paid extra for an extended warranty (which runs out in a couple of months) and has proved to be worth the
money I paid for it. At first my gearbox was leaking oil and it took care of some seals and labour for it, and more recently the suspension
spring broke and they paid for suspension, strut top and drop link to be replaced (pendragon warranty - definitely calling them when
warranty expires to see if I can extend it!).

This week however I have potentially four issues which have all arisen at once.

1 + 2. Air con makes strange whistling/hissing noise in the cabin as I accelerate (completely disappears when ac is off) and an issue
i've had for a while but fianlly got booked in for at the same time is a wet patch of carpet under the drivers carpet mat (again seems to
come back when ac has been used and leaves a white, crusty residue under the carpet mat). Citroen have told me that if it is the
condenser making the weird noises in the cabin this will be replaced under warranty, i dont believe its the case that the gas running out
will cause the noise in the cabin, as surely the ac just doesnt work when the gas reaches a certain point? It has not been recharged in a
year and a half however and the ac is almost always on. As for the water in the footwell I have seen others write about a pipe
getting dislodged and redirecting water flow incorrectly, so hoping this is a simple fix.

    3. I get a very loud clunk when putting the car into reverse, regardless of wether I'm parked on a hill or not and I can feel an
accompanying movement under the car when this noise happens (it's a single noise/movement as the gearstick goes to reverse). This
has been an issue with the car (if it is an issue and not a characteristic) since the day I got it, i've just never taken it in as it never got
    any worse.

    4. When acclerating quickly from standstill, i get a noise similar to that of stones hitting the wheel arch area of the car, though i know
for definite this is not the case, as it repeated when i was reversing onto a curb, and the second before the car started to move the
noise repeated. My limited mechanical knowledge i'm presuming this to be driveshaft related, as these have never been replaced on my
car and i'm thinking at 60,000 with sports suspension and low profile tyres the driveshafts must be coming to the end of thier lives.

Please let me know if any of you have had any of these issues so I have some sort of clue what might be up, there isn't a courtesy car
available till next week so it isn't going in for inspection till thursday and I don't fancy waiting till then to figure out what might be up and
what may/may not be covered under my warranty.

    Thanks!

1 and 2 got no idea

3 happens to me all the time. Goes THUNK, but it's not exactly an issue.

4 is it wheelspinning? That could kick up any loose gravel on the road into the arches. Also do you have a shingle/pebbled driveway? Anything like that will stick small stones into your treads which only dislodge when you give it some throttle. With regard to reversing/noise at standstill, my driveway IS loose pebbles and as I creep off it, the tyres squash pebbles and ping them backwards like an autopitching machine

      Hi,

do you feel movement when you get a thud putting into reverse?

as for the stones i'm 100% sure its not related to stones as it has made the noise when the weels weren't moving, and its hard to explain but something just dioesnt feel right with the steering (unless my ocd mind is playing tricks where i think something is wrong!)

Hmmm good question, I think there is a bit of a vibration from the transmission but nothing excessive. Feels satisfying, like you've just slid a huge bolt across a giant door. Not so much moving, more like bam, reverse engaged
