  • Loss of Power and Engine Management Light on.

I own a DS3 150 THP 13 plate and recently been having some issues.
Started off as a rattling coming from the engine but only on cold starts and only lasted a minute or so.
So I got it checked out turned out it was the timing chain. Being out of warranty Citroen offered no help whatsoever. So got it changed at my local garage.
I had it changed and got my car back on Friday 4th Nov. Sounded and driven great when I got it back, for a couple of days!
From yesterday there was a complete lack of power, asif there was no turbo. I've been told it sounds like it's going into 'limp' mode.
Yesterday and today it tends to jump in and out of this mode, then on my way home from work today the Engine Management Light come on saying a repair is required.
I'm going to contact the garage tomorrow and get it checked out.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this? Few people have mentioned the loss of power and EML coming on, but not straight after a timing chain change??

Probably heavy carbon buildup on inlet valves. Seems to be the cause of 90% of THP problems. There's loads of threads about it, just search "valve coking", "valve carbonisation", "walnut blasting" and you'll get a few similar threads

It was mentioned to me that the timing chain may not have set properly when they fitted it? At least with the light being on they can plug in and get the fault code. Fingers crossed nothing serious!

A basic rule of fault diagnosis: first check the last thing you changed. So, in this case number one suspect has to be the timing chain.

Did ur local garage have the proper timing tools to do the job? Did they replace all the stretch bolts and other associated parts? They even use proper citroen parts?
