  • 50000 mile 48 month service or full service?

    Hi everyone,

My car is due for a service next month and I'm not sure which service package to go for.

My car has 47,500 miles on it and it's a 2013 plate, on Citroen.co.uk it recommends a 50,000 mile/ 48 month service for £172.57 I asked at bassetts Swansea today and they said about a oil/filter change for £130 or a full service for £199

If anyone could advise on what's included in both services (can't seem to find it online) and which they would recommend that would be great!

    Thanks

The service requirements are specified in the Maintenance & Warranty Guide which should be in the wallet with your Owner's Handbook.

It only shows when certain components should be replaced (filters, oil etc) it doesn't show what is changed in a "full service" or a "50,000 mile/ 48 month service" just want to know what is replaced in each service and what the difference is. If it's worth the full service or just go with the other service

Same for me, the Citroen website gives numerous price options for various types of 6 year service.

I had the same on my last service, i ended up going to see them and as the £199 price is a special deal (the price of the individual parts of the service is greater than£199) i got them to conduct a full service and leave the unused parts (Air Filter, oil filter, plugs etc) in the boot.

If your not sure just get a full service and then you know your covered. You seriously trying to save what £25 - £30... over keeping your car in A1 condition. The extra bits that come with a full service are far from going to do any harm.

Page 11 (in my 2010 version, yours may be different) shows the requirements for the basic service, which really is little more than an oil & filter change. Turn to page 12 & you have a list of additional operations which are time or mileage related; add those indicated for the mileage your car's done & the time since last service & that's what needs to be done.

Ask the dealer what their offers include. Bear in mind that dealers are very good at adding totally unnecessary work; make sure that they are working in your interest, not theirs!

Yip, hence why i told them not to replace the plugs, and various filters etc as i do those myself at half the recommended intervals, and to put those components in the boot and il change them myself at a later date. That was still cheaper than getting them to carry out a basic service.
