  • Sporadic misfire - Where to go from here.

Hi Guys, first thanks for reading this thread, especially over the christmas period.

Unfortunately my christmas hasn't been great. About a week ago on the way to the work end of year party my car for the first time misfired on cold. Threw me into limp etc.
    'Depollution system faulty'

After restarting and getting back i chucked some redex in and after a little while the engine light went out with no problems.

350 Miles drive later it happened again, this time on a hot engine at high speed. At this point I took it to a garage for diagnostics.

    Error codes were:
    1/2 P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low
    2/2 Misfire on cyclinder 3

As this doesn't give me too much to go by I decided to clear the errors and see if the misfire would happen again, on the same cyclinder. 30-40 Miles on it happens again, pulling away on a cold engine.
This time error codes came back as:

    Error codes were:
    1/2 P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low
    2/2 Misfire on cyclinder 4

I'm not sure where to go from here really. All the citroen garages where I live are quoting 140 just to look at it and i'm not confident in them. The car runs fine around the times the misfire occurs, maybe a slight chug when very cold and idling.
I also think there may be a slight leak on the pcv system. I had a full citroen service back in March so I don't think its a maintenance issue.

Any suggestions how I could cost-effectively try fix this issue myself? Or alternatively affordable specialists in Kent, UK ?

    Thanks for all help given.
