  • Anti-theft faulty

    Hey guys.

I just removed a GPS tracker from my car that was a requirement for my last insurance policy and it's set my immobiliser off by the looks of it
It was powered from a wire coming out of the steering column and earthed to the dashboard.

I cut the wires and pulled out the box and now my car won't start and my key doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

    was it professionally installed

mine has a petrol cut off if triggered, others are connected to immobilsers etc etc

Yes it was professionally installed. I'm trying the battery now.

      Thanks!

Not guaranteed to work, it may have a back up battery supply

Not worked I'm afraid. I've spoken to a local garage to see if they can do anything.
I'm unsure as to how it happened because it was just a continuous 12v power supply, hmmm.

          Thanks anyway!

If you have the brand and item name you might be able to find installation directions on the manufactures web page.

You may have just blown fuse, there's some large ones hidden inside the fuse box that will shut the whole car down virtually.
Or maybe you spiked the BSI and just needs a reset.

Welp, 50 quid and 3 days without a car later. It turns out it was a fuse (DOH!)
I feel like a bit of a mug to say the least!
Edit: Think some stickers are required to relieve my last few remaining pennies before payday!
